Just ten minutes’ walk from Hulton Square is MediaCityUK, Europe’s first purpose-built media community and Salford’s answer to Silicon Valley.

The £1.5bn development in Salford Quays will see an explosion of new media and creative industries to rival that of any other media city in the world such as those in Dubai and Seoul.

The development will be home to:

• Six major departments BBC departments including BBC Sport, BBC Breakfast, Children’s BBC and Radio 5 Live
• A new campus for the University of Salford catering for more than 1,500 students opening September 2011
• A Booths supermarket – the first to open in Greater Manchester
• New shops, bars, restaurants and more!

Eventually, MediaCityUK is expected to cater for more than 1,000 media companies employing around 15,000 people. In addition, a state-of-the-art academy is due to open in Ordsall in 2012 specialising in media education.
