Ordsall is in a class of its own when it comes to local schools boasting two established primaries with a new secondary academy opening soon.St Joseph’s RC Primary School caters for boys and girls from the ages of three to 11 and has been awarded OFSTEDs highest inspection rating, Grade One (Outstanding). This places it in the top 100 best performing primary schools in the UK.Ordsall’s newest school, Primrose Hill, opened in 2007 and also caters for 3 to 11 year olds. The £6.5m state-of-the-art building, which was part funded by LPC Living, also contains a Sure Start Children’s Centre for pre-school ages.

The new school offers breakfast clubs and after school clubs and there is a café with IT facilities for community use. The name, Primrose Hill, was selected following a competition within Ordsall and takes its name from a school which existed in Salford in the 1800s.

In spring 2011 work began on a new secondary academy on Trafford Road with 900 spaces for pupils aged 11-16 and 250 sixth form places. Oasis Academy MediaCity will specialise in media and ICT and will offer students unrivalled access to work with the BBC and other organisations in nearby MediaCityUK.

The academy is due to open in September 2012.
